Proving Damages in a Nursing Home Abuse Case

According to the CDC, over 2 million people reside in nursing homes and that number continues to increase every year. Nursing homes are expected to provide a safe, comfortable environment for their residents and take care of their increasing needs. Unfortunately, in some nursing homes, residents are subjected to abuse rather than care. It is possible to file a legal claim against the abusive caretaker or nursing home. Why Are Pedestrian Accidents Happening on Georgia Interstates?

There have been several recent pedestrian accidents that have occurred on Georgia interstates. And sadly, determining the causes of these accidents is often difficult, as these accidents tend to be fatal. This is due to the high rates of speed vehicles travel on the interstates. These deaths are part of a large trend of pedestrian accidents in Georgia, which increased 11 percent from 2016 to 2017. While the true causes of these pedestrian accidents may never be known, many pedestrian deaths involve alcohol. Sometimes, these pedestrians are struck after getting out of their own…

Whose Fault Is It If I Am Injured in a Deck Collapse?

A Georgia woman was recently awarded $500,000 after suffering serious injuries in a house deck collapse. The accident occurred in October 2014 during a party. The victim broke her leg in two places and claims that the pain has never gone away. The trial focused on the deck itself – its condition, who was responsible for its installation and maintenance and who should be held liable for its collapse. During the trial, a contractor who rebuilt the deck after it collapsed testified that the deck was rotten and not properly attached to the house. The victim’s representatives also noted that the owner had performed repair work on the deck’s most dangerous parts, but failed to properly complete all necessary repairs. The landlord said he was not responsible and blamed the renters, saying that they should have been aware of the state of the deck, but the jury ruled that the…
