How ELDs Prevent Drowsy Driving

red-and-black-trucks-300x200.jpgElectronic Logging Devices (ELDs) are federally mandated devices that help to increase the safety of the roads for drivers. The device is linked to the commercial truck driver's engines to more accurately record the driving times and hours of service. These devices were created to prevent truckers from dozing off while driving. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that drowsy driving was responsible for over 700,000 car accidents in 2013. AAA has reported that 10 percent of car accidents are caused by drowsy driving in earlier this year.

Why You Should Never Wait to Speak with an Attorney After a Truck Accident

bigstock-Overturned-Truck-4188645_preview-300x200.jpegCommercial trucks are the largest vehicles on the road, in some cases weighing 20 to 40 times more than regular passenger vehicles. These enormous vehicles can cause significant damage when they crash into smaller vehicles, even during collisions involving low speeds. Federal crash data shows that 3,500 to 4,000 people are killed in truck accidents each year. Countless others suffer life-altering injuries.

Macon Man Narrowly Dodges Death in Chain-Reaction Truck Accident

The crash occurred when a Hapag-Lloyd Co. truck slowed down due to mechanical problems. Behind it, a tractor-trailer hauling cars moved to the right into an exit-only lane to avoid running into the semi-truck ahead. When it did, it hit a black Nissan and a white Toyota Prius crashed into the semi in front.

Is Speed a Major Contributor to Rollover Accidents?

iStock-188108555-resize-300x200.jpgIn mid-September, a tractor-trailer overturned in Coweta County. It was hauling rebar while turning left at the intersection of Highway 16 and the Highway 34 Bypass. As it turned, the load shifted, causing the truck to roll onto its side. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and drugs and alcohol did not contribute to the accident.
