It allows drivers to seek permits to drive if they purchase an ignition interlock device (IID), a form of in-car breathalyzer that prevents a car from starting or continuing unless a sober driver blows into it. The IID must be purchased by the driver, adding yet another fee to the roughly $10,000 a DUI costs.

Teaching your teens how to be safe drivers starts with the parents, but other forms of education are also good tools, and the Bibb County Sheriff's Outreach Section is offering free classes for your teens and young adult children to learn defensive driving.
