This Latest Auto Recall Is Out of Control

On Behalf of | Oct 28, 2016 | Personal Injury |

It was discontinued back in 2012-the Mazda CX-7 car/SUV crossover vehicle-but there are still thousands of these vehicles on the road and there could be a problem. Depending on what these car owners have driven through, they might not be able to control where they’re crossovers are going. So Mazda is rolling out a new auto recall on these vehicles, and you should make sure you get yours checked out.

Is Your CX-7 a Death Trap?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has just issued a recall for the Mazda CX-7 crossover. The safety monitor says that if salt-contaminated water manages to work its way into the ball joint fittings of this vehicle’s front suspension, it could cause corrosion and leave the driver unable to steer. Regulators go on to say that the defect affects the entire production run of Mazda CX-7s from 2007-2012-that’s over 190,000 vehicles-and what’s worse is that this isn’t the first time Mazda has dealt with this problem.

The Mazda CX-9 SUV had the same issue and was recalled for it back in July of 2015. Around 193,000 CX-9s from the 2007-2014 year models were recalled to fix their suspension systems. And now that the CX-7s are being called in, some are beginning to wonder if other Mazda vehicles might be called in for the same issue.

Luckily for the automaker, there have been no reports of crashes or injuries related to these defective auto parts. However, that doesn’t mean that crashes have not happened or will not happen in the near future. This issue could have deadly consequences, so if you drive one of these crossovers or SUVs, be sure to run your VIN number through the NHTSA’s Safer Car website.
