Are Theme Park Accidents Becoming an Epidemic?

When was the last time you went to an amusement park? These entertainment centers are usually the hotspot for families and children to get away from it all and have some fun. But are these theme parks safe? The answer may surprise you.

Are Theme Park Accidents Becoming an Epidemic?

In one week, three theme park accidents have taken the spotlight. One accident involved three girls plummeting 30 feet from a Ferris wheel. Luckily, those children survived, as did a boy riding a rollercoaster in Pennsylvania. The three-year-old boy was tossed out his seat at the highest turn of the Rollo Coaster. He fell 12 feet to another section of amusement ride tracks, but was conscious and speaking when he was transported to the hospital. The third victim of an amusement park incident wasn't so lucky.

The son of a Kansas State Representative died when something went wrong on a 17-story waterslide at Schlitterbahn. Now, safety officials all over the country are wondering what's going on. There are currently no federal regulations requiring these parks to report any injuries or fatalities. This lack of oversight leaves some experts wondering how many theme parks across our country don't have adequate safety measures. This also means that filing a lawsuit is the only real tool the public has to force these places to improve safety.
